Eddie Howe is hopeful Fabian Schar’s hamstring injury isn’t a bad one, but doesn’t know if he’ll be fit to face Everton on Thursday night.
The Swiss centre-back limped off in the second half of Sunday’s stunning 6-1 win over Spurs, seeing Jamaal Lascelles come on in the 74th minute.
Elsewhere, Allan Saint-Maximin is back on Tyneside – he posted a picture from the club’s training ground on his Instagram story this afternoon – but Howe believes our trip to Goodison Park will come too soon for him The winger has missed our last three games with a hamstring injury and has been in France receiving treatment.
The boss revealed that we’re managing “a couple of knocks” following the game; one of which could be Bruno Guimaraes after he was seen limping heavily just before the break.
Here’s what Howe had to say when the press asked for an injury update after the game:
“I think Everton will be too early for Maxi.”
“With Fabian, I don’t know. We’ve got a couple of knocks in there (the dressing room).”
“There’s an assessment Monday.
“I don’t think it’s bad, just a hamstring I felt but we’ll see and hopefully it’s not a big problem.”
