Fabrizio Romano: Newcastle scouts now watching defender with £45m release clause

According to Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle scouts have ‘been in attendance’ to watch over Napoli defender Kim Min-Jae despite interest coming from Man United.

The South Korean international has enjoyed a very successful season with the Italian club, winning the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years and being labelled as one of the top defenders in Europe.

Man United have shown a lot of interest in the centre-back and have been monitoring his situation alongside Newcastle who will be keen to add to our defensive line.

Min-Jae is believed to have a release clause of £45m so there will certainly be a few top clubs looking to snap him up, although nothing is concrete yet.

Champions League could be a big deciding factor in the 26-year-old’s next move so there is still a lot of hope that Newcastle could get this deal done.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, here’s what Romano had to sat:

“Currently, Kim Min-jae is focusing on finishing the season. In the case of the English Premier League, the qualification to the Champions League or the final standings have not been decided. There is no need to move.

Also, other clubs are exploring the situation for Kim. So, I will keep the race open because, for example, Newcastle scouts have been in attendance in the last few weeks to keep an eye on Kim. The situation remains open with Man United interested.”
