Arsenal join race for Newcastle target after Toon had €20m bid rejected – Fabrizio Romano

Arsenal have now joined Newcastle in the race for Matheus Franca after we had a €20m bid turned down in January, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The attacking midfielder is being ‘monitored’ by both clubs who will be able to offer him Champions League football next season.

Newcastle were heavily linked with the 19-year-old back in January and it remains to be seen whether or not we will follow that interest up with a second bid this summer.

As Romano’s report states, there are also three other clubs who are involved in the battle for the Brazilian, but there has been no proposal of formal talks as of yet. Crystal Palace have been linked.

Franca, who can play in midfield or out on either wing, could be a great versatile option for Howe next season and would certainly be on to watch as an upcoming star.
