According to a new leak on Twitter, Newcastle United will face Aston Villa at St James’ Park on the opening day of the 2023/24 season.
The game is due to take place at 5.30pm on Saturday 12th August – meaning it’ll be televised live on Sky Sports – while our second game of the season and first away game is thought to be a trip to Manchester City.
If true, that would represent a tough start for Eddie Howe’s Mags, facing Unai Emery’s much-improved Villa on the opening weekend, followed by a clash with Pep Guardiola’s treble winners at the Etihad. There’s also murmurs that we’ll face Liverpool at SJP in our third game, but time will tell ahead of the Premier League’s official announcement at 9am.
