It is finally official. Sandro Tonali has signed for Newcastle United!
After widespread reports confirmed we’d agreed a deal with AC Milan over a week ago, the Italian international has signed an initial five-year-deal at St James’ Park, arriving for a fee in the region of £52-£55m.
Tonali becomes our second signing of the summer after Gambian talent Yankuba Minteh – who was immediately loaned to Feyenoord – and represents a real statement from the club. He is considered one of the most exciting young midfielders in Serie A, was recently representing AC Milan in the Champions League semi-final and picking up 14 caps for his country; as well as captaining the U21s at this summer’s European Championships.
See the two official announcement video below, followed by the club’s confirmation tweet:
A brilliant signing and another top class midfielder added to our engine room, giving us another quality technician who can also add intensity and drive to our side.
Welcome to the Toon, Sandro!
