According to The Guardian, Newcastle are showing ‘serious interest’ in signing Crystal Palace centre-back Joachim Andersen.
It won’t be plain sailing, however, as senior reporter Ed Aarons claims that another ‘top six Premier League club’ are also looking to sign the Danish international.
Palace look set to demand big money for the defender, with The Guardian revealing that the Eagles will only consider a sale if an offer in excess of £40m arrives.
For me, the 27-year-old is one of the most underrated players outside the ‘big six’ and is a very similar profile to Fabian Schar, being a superb ball-player who can also handle himself physically. However, I can’t see us paying this sort of money for Andersen.
I expect us to eventually spend big on a younger right-sided centre-back who can be a long-term partner for Sven Botman, but don’t think Andersen is enough of an upgrade on Schar – if at all – to justify this sort of spend.
Our interest makes sense to an extent, I just can’t see us paying anything like this money for him.
Hi Olly, hope you’re doing well mate 🙌🏼
