According to Alan Nixon at The Sun, Newcastle are considering a move for Argentinian forward Benjamin Rollheiser.
He reports that we’ve been taking a close look at the 23-year-old; who is believed to be keen on a move to the Premier League after impressive 12 months with Argentine side Estudiantes.
Nixon reveals that the former River Plate talent has offers from Zenit St Petersburg and CSKA Moscow, who’ve both bid around £12m for the player. However, it’s thought Rollheiser would reject both proposals if Newcastle firmed up their interest an made a move.
The versatile South American predominantly operates as a right winger, but also made several appearances up front and as a No 10 last season; where he bagged 11 goals and five assists in all competitions.
He’s represented Argentina at U17 and U23 level and could be sold by vice-president Juan Sebastian Veron if the right offer arrives over the final few weeks of the window. It may not be a priority position, but a versatile attacker able to play on the right side of our attack or up top may appeal to Eddie Howe.
