Former Toon target Lucas Paqueta investigated for betting breaches as £70m move collapses – Report

After constant links with a move to St James’ Park last summer, Lucas Paqueta sealed a move to West Ham to end any talk of him arriving on Tyneside.

He’s been in talks over a £70m move to Man City over the past few weeks. However, it’s just emerged that a deal has collapsed, with The Mail revealing he’s now under investigation from the FA over potential betting breaches.

This comes just three months after former Mag Ivan Toney was banned from football for eight months and fined £50,000 after admitting 232 breaches of the Football Association’s betting rules.

West Ham are ‘nervously awaiting’ the results of the investigation, but it’s believed this was a key factor in his proposed move to Man City falling apart on Friday afternoon.

    The headline says he was a “former Toon target” which he was, and it says he’s being investigated, which he is, and it says a move to City has collapsed, which it has.

    I’d say the headline is pretty accurate!
