Liverpool have been handed a huge boost ahead of Sunday’s trip to St James’ Park, with new signing Alexis Mac Allister now eligible to play after his three-game ban was overturned.
The Argentinian was sent off in their 3-1 win over Bournemouth and initially suspended for this weekend’s trip to Tyneside. However, after a wrongful dismissal appeal went Liverpool’s way, he’ll be available for selection.
Jurgen Klopp confirmed that he planned to “talk to the authorities” about the decision, where Mac Allister was harshly shown a straight red for a soft ‘high foot’ on Ryan Christie.
With Mac Allister now available, we could see him start in midfield alongside Dominik Szoboszlai; the former Toon target who completed a £60m move from RB Leipzig last month.
As for Newcastle, we’ll be hoping Joelinton is fine after limping off at Man City, while Jacob Murphy should return to the squad after missing out last weekend when his partner went into labour.
Putting aside Klopp’s OTT hyperbole, it’s the right decision
