Triple boost for Newcastle as three injury fears are eased ahead of Brentford clash

Newcastle’s injury list was in danger of growing last week, as Eddie Howe declared an ‘unknown’ return date for Sven Botman, Fabian Schar limped off at Brighton and Miguel Almiron suffered a scare in Paraguay’s 0-0 draw with Peru.

However, we’ve seen positive updates on all free over the past few days, suggesting they should be OK for Saturday’s clash with Brentford at St James’ Park.

Botman has already stated on Instagram that he’ll be ‘back soon’, while Schar shook off any hamstring fears by playing the full 90 minutes of Switzerland’s 2-2 draw with Kosovo on Saturday night.

Almiron looked in pain at the end of Paraguay’s draw with Peru on Friday, with South American press describing it as a ‘muscle issue’. However, it’s now emerged from Roberto Rojas that the 29-year-old was able to ‘train normally’ over the weekend and is ‘match fit’ ahead of their clash with Venezuela on Tuesday.
