The team sheets are in at St James’ Park, where Newcastle face Brentford in the 5.30pm kick-off live on Sky Sports.
Here’s the side Eddie Howe has gone with:
STARTING XI: Pope – Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn – Longstaff, Bruno, Anderson – Gordon, Wilson, Barnes.
SUBS: Dubravka, Lascelles, Tonali, Targett, Isak, Hall, Livramento, Murphy, Almiron.
Sven Botman has returned to the side after shrugging off an ankle injury that kept him out of that 3-1 defeat to Brighton two weeks ago, seeing Dan Burn move to left-back and Matt Targett drop to the bench.
Elsewhere, Eddie Howe has handed first starts of the season to Callum Wilson, Harvey Barnes, Elliot Anderson and Sean Longstaff, with Joelinton forced to miss out due to a niggling knee problem and Sandro Tonali out of the side due to a thigh injury picked up while away with Italy.
A huge game at the start of a massive week for Newcastle United. Here’s hoping for a much-improved performance and three points ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Milan.
HOWAY THE LADS!
