According to The Telegraph, Adidas will pay around £40 million per-season to manufacture and supply Newcastle’s kit for the next five years.
This is believed to be a ‘huge increase’ on the previous deal agreed with Castore, who have been paying the club £5 million per-year as our leading kit supplier.
However, The Telegraph reveal that we encountered several problems and ended the partnership early after a series of complaints from supporters. The initial agreement was due to last until the end of the 2025/26 season, but Adidas will now be in place from next season onwards.
It’s believed fans raised concerns over the ‘poor quality’ of Castore merchandise, ‘poor customer service’, lack of available stock and long delays experienced after ordering an item online.
Newcastle felt this reflected badly on the club and also believed the financial package – previously agreed by Mike Ashley – could be taken to the next level with Adidas; who will return next season as our leading kit manufacturer.
Not only will Adidas offer the club a ‘far more lucrative’ package worth EIGHT times more than what Castore had been paying us, it’s believed they’ll also ‘ensure stronger and more reliable supply chains’ and improved quality control.
