Howe issues double injury update on Alexander Isak and Jacob Murphy

Eddie Howe has confirmed that there’s a ‘high chance’ Alexander Isak’s groin injury will keep him out until after the international break and ‘fears’ that Jacob Murphy’s dislocated shoulder will require surgery.

The Swede was forced off early on in our Champions League tie against Borussi Dortmund and it appears he has aggravated the injury he picked up on international duty.

Though it appeared the damage may not be as bad as first feared, the boss revealed that there is a high chance the forward will still be out until after the November break.

As for Jacob Murphy, the winger was also forced off against Dortmund with a shoulder injury after being substituted on, and there are fears that it could be more serious than first thought.

Howe has revealed that the 28-year-old may need surgery to solve the problem, which would leave us fairly thin in the front-line and leave a lot of pressure on the likes of Miguel Almiron and Anthony Gordon.

“Alex is still where he is. He’s aggravated the injury he suffered at West Ham and we’ll wait and see whether he’ll be fit before the international break. There’s a high chance he won’t, but we’ll see.”

“Jacob we fear might need an operation on his shoulder.”
