Eddie Howe admitted ‘we weren’t good enough’ following a 2-0 defeat in Dortmund, feeling we were lacking the ‘intensity and quality’ we normally show and must now look to beat both PSG and Milan.
The boss also revealed that Callum Wilson was forced off at the break with a ‘tightness in his hamstring’ and will be assessed ahead of Saturday’s trip to Bournemouth.
Howe bemoaned our inability to rotate properly due to injuries and felt the turnaround between Arsenal and Dortmund was tough for the players, feeling ‘we are better’ than what we showed against the Bundesliga giants.
Joelinton had a chance to level things up at the back post, which Howe described as our ‘key moment’, but the Brazilian somehow headed wide and as the head coach stated, ‘sometimes that’s football’.

A tough one to take, but we’re still learning, still growing as a club and were always going to come up short at some stage when attempting to compete on three fronts with so many injuries.
