Alan Shearer has given his immediate reaction to Newcastle’s 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth, believing we were ‘really poor’ and ‘nowhere near it’ – despite the injury and suspension crisis.
In a Twitter post after the match, he said: ‘By far the better team won on the night. Newcastle have injuries and suspensions, but they were really poor and nowhere near it. Well done Bournemouth.’
He’s right. Bournemouth were by far the better side and we were miles off it in all departments, with too many of our big hitters poor. We are massively hampered by injuries and suspension – we went into the game without ELEVEN first-team players for one reason or another – but we looked way below our best in every department.
In the end, Bournemouth should’ve had three or four, with some late saves from Nick Pope stopping the scoreline from being even more emphatic. 2-0 flattered us and it was a real tough watch, with us forced to field youngsters, fatigued first-team stars and Mike Ashley signings who rarely get a kick under Howe.

Fantastic result for us last night ???? hopefully we can kick on now and get ourselves enough points and build our confidence up to survive another season in the premier League. On Newcastle they have injuries but we also had a number of important injuries to key players. Our start to this season has been incredibly hard with games against Liverpool spurs and man city. But have continued on without complaining.
