Newcastle dealt triple blow as injury crisis goes from bad to worse – The Telegraph

If you thought Newcastle’s injury woes were bad, it seems they’ve just got worse as a worrying ‘exclusive’ has emerged from The Telegraph just moments ago.

Luke Edwards has revealed that Callum Wilson has been ruled out for ‘at least six weeks’ with a hamstring problem, while there’s growing fears Sven Botman could need surgery on his ongoing knee issue.

Should he go under the knife, the Dutchman will be missing until at least February and it seems increasingly likely he’ll need surgery after failing to improve in recent weeks.

Then there’s Sean Longstaff, who is ‘struggling with a swollen ankle’ and an early doubt for next weekend’s meeting with Chelsea, leaving us threadbare in all areas.

There is some positive news in the piece, as Miguel Almiron’s hamstring injury is minor. He has an outside chance of making our next game despite withdrawing from international duty, but Harvey Barnes is unlikely to play for another month despite making good progress from a foot injury.

With Burn, Targett, Tonali, Anderson and Murphy also out long-term, it would be gutting to lose Wilson and Botman until the New Year.
