According to Football Insider, Newcastle United are considering triggering the £15m release clause in the contract of in-form Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy.
The 27-year-old has scored an incredible 15 goals in just nine Bundesliga games this season and is viewed as being an attainable target for Newcastle in the January window.
Newcastle are likely to be on the lookout, even if a midfielder is the priority, with Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak’s injury issues causing serious problems for Eddie Howe.
Both strikers are incredibly talented, but they cannot be relied on to complete a full season without picking up any knocks and leaving Newcastle in a tricky position. Isak has missed our last five games with a groin injury, while Wilson is expected to miss the next six weeks with a hamstromg issue.
Ideally, we would bring in a third-choice forward who is happy being a rotation option, but it’s unclear if Guirassy would accept those conditions.
