With Joe Willock seeing a specialist today and Sean Longstaff failing to travel, Eddie Howe has been forced to call-up several youngsters to his Champions League squad in Paris.
After his press conference on Monday tea time, the players trained at the Parc des Princes. The following 18-man squad was spotted:
Newcastle’s squad vs PSG: Pope, Dubravka, Karius -Trippier, Livramento, Lascelles, Schar, Dummett, Hall – Guimaraes, Joelinton, Miley, Huntley – Almiron, Ndiweni, Isak, Parkinson, Gordon.
Ritchie, Krafth, Manquillo and Gillespie can’t feature as they weren’t named in our initial UCL squad, while U21 talents Alex Murphy and Amadou Diallo can’t be registered due to UEFA rules, handing opportunities to Michael Ndiweni, Ben Parkinson and James Huntley.
As for PSG, Warren Zaïre-Emery and Marquinhos (two players who started in their 4-1 defeat at St James’ Park) are both out, with Keylor Navas, Hugo Ekitike, Sergio Rico, Kimpembe, and Nuno Mendes also asbent.
With Sven Botman, Callum Wilson, Elliot Anderson, Harvey Barnes, Jacob Murphy, Dan Burn, Matt Targett and Sandro Tonali all out, Howe has a squad featuring three goalkeepers, five teenagers and just 11 senior outfield players.
Let’s hope they can go again after Saturday’s superb win and do us proud in Paris. HWTL!
It’s actually 17… Jamie Miley is out injured. He would have been one of the first youngsters called up to cover for injuries.
