According to The Telegraph, Newcastle are in discussions to recall Yankuba Minteh from his impressive loan spell at Feyenoord.
Luke Edwards reports that his impressive form mixed in with our injury crisis has led to talks taking place. Feyenoord could reject our request as they’ve paid a season-long loan fee and no release clause was included in the initial deal, but there’s hope a compromise could be reached, if need be, as the two clubs have struck up a good relationship.
Minteh has been involved in five goals in 10 Eredivisie appearances so far this season and recently impressed in their Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night.
The Telegraph also report that our top priority in January is a short-term replacement for Sandro Tonali, revealing that Kalvin Phillips’ name has featured ‘prominently’ in recent recruitment meetings.
Man City are prepared to do business with Newcastle – unlike other ‘big six’ rivals – but we’ll face intense competition for his signature and are not yet sure if a loan-to-buy move would be possible.
