According to The Telegraph, Nick Pope is facing 4-5 months on the sidelines following a serious shoulder injury.
They report that ‘initial assessments’ suggest he’ll be out of action for a lengthy period of time and is likely to return deep into the season.
The 31-year-old suffered a dislocated shoulder in the latter stages of Saturday night’s 1-0 win over Man Utd, seeing Martin Dubravka come on for the final five minutes.
This isn’t the first time Pope has dislocated his shoulder. Worryingly, he was missing for five months with the same issue during his time at Burnley, suggesting he really could be out until April or May.
A huge blow for Eddie Howe and yet another injury setback, but we’ll have to hope Dubravka can step up in his absence and pick up from where Pope left off, with no keeper keeping more Premier League clean sheets so far this season.
