Toon facing two Bruno Guimaraes concerns ahead of Fulham and Aston Villa games

Just 24 hours on from concerns Joelinton could miss the remainder of the season if he requires surgery, Newcastle also have concerns over Bruno Guimaraes.

It’s getting beyond a joke now, but The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards reports that he was ‘struggling with a tight hamstring’ in Saturday night’s 3-2 defeat to Man City.

Thankfully, he’s got a winter break to recover, as our next game is an FA Cup trip to Fulham a week on Saturday (27th January), followed by a trip to Aston Villa on Tuesday 30th. However, even if he recovers from that hamstring concern, he is now just one Premier League booking away from a two-game ban.

The Brazilian was shown his ninth yellow card of the season in the first half of Saturday’s game and rules state that anyone who racks up 10 bookings before the 32nd game of the season will face a two-match suspension.

Should he be cautioned in our league trip to Aston Villa two weeks today, he’d miss our home clash with Luton on February 3rd and trip to Nottingham Forest on February 10th.

With Joelinton out for at least six weeks (potentially the season), Joe Willock and Elliot Anderson still some way off and Sandro Tonali suspended, we may have to draft Lewis Hall or Fabian Schar into midfield if Bruno picks up his 10th booking anytime soon.
