Newcastle make decision on Kieran Trippier & Callum Wilson after Bayern & Atletico bids

Newcastle United have made their stance clear regarding the sale of Kieran Trippier and Callum Wilson.

According to The Telegraphs Luke Edwards and The Athletic, the club insist both England internationals will not be leaving the club in the January transfer window despite serious interest from some of the top clubs in Europe.

Reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich had an approach rejected for Trippier on Saturday – despite suggestions the right-back was keen to join the German giants – while Spanish giants Atletico Madrid also failed with a loan bid for our number nine.

Edwards adds that both Trippier and Wilson trained trained on Saturday and are expected to do the same on Sunday, playing down claims they are angling for a move away over the final 10 days of the window.

The Athletic report that Newcastle see Trippier and Wilson as “too important to lose” so late in the window and that senior figures of the club have spoken to the players regarding the bids. As things stand, Trippier and Wilson are going nowhere, with Newcastle’s stance likely to remain unchanged unless big offers arrive.

  1. Wilson won’t go anywhere coz we don’t have the cover up front.

It feels like Trippier may only happen if we need to bring in a midfielder – but with Willock, Barnes & Murphy on their way back it may be less urgent.

But this suggestion that either player is looking for or keen on a move – I’m not buying. Both have been nothing but commitment to NUFC since they’ve came to the club & I don’t question their commitment even.
