Newcastle identify Nottingham Forest star as potential Miguel Almiron replacement – The Telegraph

According to The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards, Newcastle United are planning a late move for Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White should Miguel Almiron join Saudi side Al-Shabab.

He reveals that the 23-year-old has been watched ‘extensively’ by the club’s recruitment team and earned extra brownie points for his outstanding display in their 3-1 win at St James’ Park on Boxing Day.

Forest are ‘likely to resist any late bid’ and it’s thought a deal would be very tough to complete this month should Almiron depart, but it seems he’s high on our list of potential replacements.

Edwards insists that reports of an agreement between Newcastle and Al-Shabab are premature, though talks are set to continue over the coming days. If a January deal can’t be struck, the Saudi Pro League side are expected to renew their interest over the summer.

The Telegraph also report that any money received on outgoings this month could aid a move for Everton’s Amadou Onana or another midfield target, with Khephren Thuram, Ederson and Manu Kone also liked.

If you honestly think Gibbs-White is a Championship player, I can only presume you haven’t seen him play.

Best player on the pitch when they beat us 3-1 at SJP on Boxing Day.

  3. We need more players not less! What is Howe and his Puppet Tindell thinking? If anyone should be sent packing it should be these 2.I still say last Season was a fluke for Howe.Pressure is mounting up on him.Hopefully the owners see this and say he isn’t the “Man” for the job!

He’s not a upgrade on Miggy though(the stats prove it), if he played like he did against us constantly he’d be off to bigger teams than us but that’s his problem he doesn’t.
When he’s not at the races his work rate is nowhere near Miggys either.
I personally think he’s ok but not what we should be going for as an upgrade.

Calm down it’s Luke Edwards talking sh### again
His agent Daniel Campos, stated he has ‘privately downplayed’ talk of his client leaving this month.
It’s the usual southern press along with the idiot Lee Ryder causing mischief with their stupid stories in the vain hope it disrupts us.
As for FFP expect that to be under scrutiny once Man City are found guilty and take the whole lot of them Prem lge, UEFA, and FIFA to court citing the competition laws esp. the bit where it says (prohibited) Any agreement that prevents, restricts or distorts competition is covered.
I’m no expert but i’m sure not being able to spend your own money on your own business is covered by that just needs someone to challenge it ….. step up Man city (if found guilty of course)

  6. Told you before Jon boy think before you post due to the FFP we will have to sell to bring players in that’s something which is out of Howe hands if the board say we’ve got to sell he’ll not have much say in it plus would rather cash in on almiron Wilson lascelles then Issak Botman or Bruno but anytime there’s a little bit of negativety your there

  7. Meant to add

I’m no expert but i’m sure not being able to spend your own money on your own business is covered by that especially when the FFP rules have been voted for by your direct competition and it’s loaded in their favour
