The Mail’s Craig Hope has issued an update on Miguel Almiron’s potential move to Saudi Arabia, revealing that talks have taken place with Al-Shaba over a proposed fee of €20m (£17m).
Interestingly, Hope also reveals that Newcastle have not issued the “not for sale” message that followed after Kieran Trippier and Callum Wilson received firm interest, suggesting we are open to Almiron’s sale.
It’s believed nothing is agreed as of yet and, as things stand, a move to Al-Shabab is ‘unlikely’ this month, but Luke Edwards (The Telegraph) reports that talks look set to continue over the coming days.
Almiron joined Newcastle for a then club-record fee of £21m back in January 2019 from MLS side Atlanta. Some feel he is worth more than the £17m suggested, but he turns 30 next month, not to mention any deals struck with Saudi sides are likely to be scrutinised due to PIFs influence in KSA.
Unlike Trippier & Wilson, there has been no “not for sale” insistence today re Almiron. Saudi interest has been registered & understand proposed fee was around €20m (£17m). Nothing agreed #nufc

Andrew – only the short sighted ones – and they’ll be the same ones shouting the loudest about how great their club is when it all comes good 🤷🏼♂️.
