£25m winger set for Premier League move despite Newcastle interest – The Athletic

According to The Athletic, Newcastle have been showing interest in Club Brugge sensation Antonio Nusa; but the highly-rated Norwegian looks set to join Brentford instead for a fee in the region of £25m.

David Ornstein reveals that Newcastle are admirers of the 18-year-old, revealing that Newcastle, Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea have been keeping a close eye on his impressive form in Belgium.

However, he reports that Brentford have ‘reached an agreement’ with Brugge for his signing and are pushing to finalise a deal before any of their Premier League competitors launch a rival bid.

That seems unlikely, however, as Ornstein highlights that we prefer to sign a right-winger – Nusa plays predominantly on the left – while Liverpool have put their transfer plans on hold while they wait to clarify who will replace Jurgen Klopp and become their new sporting director.

It’s not clear if Nusa will join Brentford immediately or be loaned back to Belgium for the remainder of the season.
