With kick-off just a few hours away at St James’ Park, it’s time to predict which team Eddie Howe will select to take on Luton today.
Keeping in mind injuries, form and Tuesday’s 3-1 win over Aston Villa, here’s what I’ve gone with and why:
Predicted XI – Dubravka – Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn – Longstaff, Bruno, Miley – Murphy, Gordon, Almiron.
One change from the win in midweek, seeing Miguel Almiron replace Alexander Isak in a move that could see Anthony Gordon lead the line.
Jason Tindall told the press on Friday morning that Isak had a ‘chance’ of making the game, but I’d be surprised if he’s risked after feeling his groin at Villa. Harvey Barnes is ‘close’, although he is likely to be on the bench at best.
The midfield three picks itself due to the injuries and the back four is likely to remain unchanged after Burn, Botman, Schar and Trippier performed so well last time out.
Newcastle United assistant manager Jason Tindall says there is a question mark on the availability of Barnes, Wilson and Willock ahead of tomorrow's game with Luton ⬇️ pic.twitter.com/SgCtIHEdko
