New name linked with Newcastle move as Toon eye €30m Serie A striker

According to reports in Italy, Newcastle United are interested in Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson ahead of the summer transfer window.

This comes via Calciomercato, who claim that ourselves and Spurs have been tracking the 25-year-old Iceland international following his impressive performances in Serie A this season.

The former PSV talent has scored 11 goals in 24 appearances this term and will reportedly be allowed to leave this summer if an offer in the region of €30m comes Genoa’s way.

Who knows if there’s any truth in this latest transfer link, but he’s one of several Serie A stars who’ve been linked with potential moves to St James’ Park along with Atalanta’s Ederson, Juventus loanee Matias Soule and Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee, to name a few.

With Callum Wilson approaching the final 12 months of his contract, the club are likely to bring in another forward to compete with Alexander Isak this summer; and Gudmundsson may be one of several on our list.
