Newcastle “contact” representatives of French international midfielder – Report

Newcastle United have been in contact with the representatives of Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot, according to repots.

HITC’s Graeme Bailey claims the Toon are among a host of clubs keen on the Frenchman who is out of contract this summer, with Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool also exploring a deal for the Nations League winner.

Bailey writes that Newcastle have “had contact with the midfielder’s representatives in recent months” and this isn’t the first time we’ve been linked with a potential move.

Midfield is a part of the pitch that Newcastle have struggled with this season after the suspension of Sandro Tonali and the long term injuries of Joe Willock, Joelinton and Elliot Anderson seeing the club light on reinforcements at many points of the season.

Rabiot has four goals and three assists this season for Juventus and scored in their last league game, a 2-2 draw with Hellas Verona.

Opta rank him among the players similar in playstyle to Joelinton and with the Brazilian’s reported contract standoff, the club are believed to be looking at planning for a future without the fan-favourite if contract negotiations continue to be fruitless.
