Newcastle plan surprise Oleksandr Zinchenko move as Arsenal set asking price – Report

According to a new report, Newcastle United are keen to bring Arsenal’s Oleksandr Zinchenko to St James’ Park this summer.

This comes via Steve Kay at Football Transfers, who reveals that the Gunners are willing to sell the Ukraine international for €45m (£38.5m) after losing his first-team place to Jakub Kiwior recently.

It’s believed Bayern Munich are also keen on the 27-year-old, identifying him as a potential replacement for Alphonso Davies; who is expected to join Real Madrid this summer.

Kay reports that Eddie Howe is keen to bolster his defence this summer, with Dan Burn not a long-term solution at left-back, Matt Targett expected to depart and Lewis Hall linked with a potential loan move after struggling for game time.

Zinchenko’s ability to play at left-back or in midfield could appeal to Newcastle, with Howe often highlighting the importance of versatility in our squad.

He would also bring a huge amount of experience following his spells at Man City and Arsenal and has been praised for his leadership off the field.

  1. Hope not he’s one dimensional and a bit rubbish at defending, we have a better player already here in Targett.

    It’s a no from me 👎

  2. £38.5 million for a 27 year old hardly fits the profile in terms of money with FFP or age or ability. ManCity got rid and possibly Arsenal likewise
You would also have to seriously question why we intend to bring in Lewis Hall for approx the same amount of money with a massive sell on clause if that is still the case?

  3. He is not that good plus he will bring the Ukrainian Nazi thing with him…. Second choice at Arsenal and 3rd choice at Man City …. Not good enough for Newcastle
