Newcastle United are now just one goalscorer away from equalling a record for the Premier League era.
With 19 different scorers in the league this season, we are one goal away from the current record (20) held by Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United in their 2012-13 title-winning season.
It’s an impressive effort from Eddie Howe’s Mags and shows what a team effort it’s been this season despite our struggles. We’re the fifth top scorers in the Premier League and have scored 20 goals more than Man Utd so far, but who do we need to find the net to equal or break their record?
Elliot Anderson is fit again and is one of very few who hasn’t found the net this season, along with Lewis Hall, Emil Krafth, Matt Targett and Paul Dummett.
Really, we should’ve already reached 20 different scorers for the season, as Anderson’s towering header at Nottingham Forest was harshly disallowed last year.
As the number show below, 20 different Mags have found the net in all competitions, with Hall scoring in our 3-0 win at Old Trafford in the Carabao Cup.
Newcastle United’s goalscorers in 2023/24 (all competitions)
- 15 goals – Alexander Isak
- 10 goals – Anthony Gordon
- 8 goals – Callum Wilson
- 6 goals – Sean Longstaff
- 5 goals – Miguel Almiron
- 4 goals – Fabian Schar, Dan Burn
- 3 goals – Bruno, Joelinton
- 2 goals – Joe Willock, Harvey Barnes, Sven Botman
- 1 goal – Lewis Hall, Jamaal Lascelles, Tino Livramento, Lewis Miley, Jacob Murphy, Matt Ritchie, Sandro Tonali, Kieran Trippier
In winning Sir Alex Ferguson's final Premier League title, Manchester United set a goalscoring record.
