Garang Kuol – Things go from bad to worse for Newcastle United loanee

Newcastle United youth prospect Garang Kuol’s loan is in tatters following a political disaster at his current club.

The 19-year-old Australian international is currently on loan at Eredivisie side FC Voldendam and had made 12 league appearances from the start of the season up till early December.

Kuol’s lack of starts were already a slight concern, but he’s only played 32 minutes in the last 10 games, with Voldendam now rock bottom of the league and in a state of crisis following a turbulent few months off the field.

12 members of staff have left the club since the beginning of the season, including manager Matthias Kohler, sporting director and chief scout; the trio who pushed to sign Kuol last summer.

The ultra-defensive style of play used by new manager Regillio Simons has meant a change in system and impacted Kuol’s role in the team. Through no real fault of his own, the Aussie talent no longer has a place in their starting line-up.

Kuol will remain at Voldendam until the end of the season, but the teenager will surely be itching to return to Tyneside to continue his development. Let’s hope he has better luck next season when he’s likely to be loaned out again.
