According to new reports, Manchester City are exploring a summer deal for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes
Jacque Talbot at FootballTransfers has revealed that last season’s treble winners City have “huge interest” in bringing the Brazilian to the Etihad and could be in a position to trigger a release clause in his contract thought to be around £100m.
Talbot reports that Pep Guardiola is a “big fan” of Bruno and the 26-year-old is believed to want Champions League football next season.
With Eddie Howe’s side sitting 10th currently, a top four finish is looking incredibly unlikely and it should be expected that talk of Bruno’s future will dominate the summer transfer discussion.

“The 26-year-old is likely to leave St James’ Park at the end of the season, in a bid to find a club playing Champions League football,” Talbot said.
“He has a strong ambition to play for Barcelona or Real Madrid but it looks likely that such a move is unlikely to materialise this time around.”
Bruno has three goals and four assists in the Premier League this season and has become the first name on the Toon team-sheet since his arrival from Lyon in 2022. He is the most pivotal cog in the Magpies’ midfield, starting 32 times in our top four finish last season.
After his brace against Forest recently, Bruno hit back at claims he was unhappy at Newcastle.
“Sometimes people speak a lot about me. I just speak a lot about football. I’m very happy here, and I like how the fans think of me here.
“I enjoy my time here a lot. I have never felt so loved. The fans have been unbelievable with me and my family. When I get the shirt I try to play for them. I don’t know, but I hope this can keep going for much longer.”
Whatever happens, it is clear Geordies will need to brace for a turbulent summer transfer window.
His behaviour when playing is childish and petulant. Very unlikeable.

Surely nobody who has been watching his performances during matches recently would pay 100 million for Bruno. He’s similar to St Maximin and Ben Arfa in so much as if he feels like it he can be impressive. Problem is, he just doesn’t feel like it very often.
He’s too flash, refuses to make the simple passes, sometimes takes on too much, goes to ground too easily and too often, and just puts the ball at risk too much.
When a Chelsea player just walked up behind him and took the ball off him was absolutely hilarious!
We’d be lucky to get our 40 million back!
