England announce call-ups for two more Mags alongside Geordie talent and Toon target

Local lad Lewis Miley has been handed a call up to the England Elite squad for U20 Euro League ties against Poland and Czechia.

And he won’t be the only young Magpie named Lewis called up to represent the country in those matches, as it was confirmed that Lewis Hall was also on the squad list announced on Friday.

It comes in the same week that Anthony Gordon was rewarded for his fine form with a call up to the senior international team. The rapid winger is in the England squad for friendlies against Brazil and Belgium.

For Miley, it represents a step up in the level of international football, having played for both the U17 and U19 side in the past. It will surely be great for his development to be playing at a higher level of competitive international football.

Miley has had a meteoric rise since making his debut at Stamford Bridge last season, playing for his boyhood club in the Champions League against some of the best in the world and scoring his first goal in the Premier League.

Hall’s start to life at Newcastle has been less in the spotlight than that of Miley, but the young left back scored a beauty of a goal at Old Trafford in the League Cup in a famous 3-0 win.

Hall and Miley join up with former Magpie youth player Bobby Clark, who has recently scored his first goal for Liverpool since switching Tyneside for Merseyside.

Also in the squad is Sheffield United youngster Oliver Arblaster, who has been linked with a move to Newcastle. The club are said to be keen to bring the midfielder to the North East and is one of a number of targets being assessed before the summer window opens.

We wish the Lewises the best of luck representing their country!
