Bruno Guimaraes speaks out on Newcastle future during Brazil press conference

Bruno Guimaraes has been discussing Newcastle’s struggles this season and his future at the club during an honest chat to the press ahead of Brazil’s friendly with England this Saturday.

After tweeting last weekend that we have ’10 games to save our season’ after exiting the FA Cup and slipping to 10th in the Premier League, the midfielder admitted he’s been “dissapointed” by the season we’ve had. However, he accepts we’ve had so many issues with injuries and suspension and still have a chance of qualifying for Europe in 7th; whether that be the Europa League or Europa Conference.

Asked about his future at the club amid claims we may have to sell a big name this summer, he said – “I don’t know exactly. I am not involved in that.

“We never know what is going to happen but I’m happy at the club. Of course, I’m disappointed about our season but I think we still have a chance to finish at least seventh, Europa League or Conference League.

“But about the club staff, I cannot speak too much. I don’t know what is going to happen in the future but what I can say is I am so grateful for Newcastle.”

On our season so far, he added – “This season we have been struggling. I think we’ve had many problems with injuries and suspensions but this is part of the process. When I signed for the club I knew that this would happen.

“Things have happened too quickly. During my two years at the club, we reached a final, unfortunately, we didn’t win but we got there after 20 years which was massive for the club.”

Bruno was also asked about Anthony Gordon’s call-up to the England squad, saying “no one at the club deserves to be in the England squad more than him” when discussing his Toon teammate. Watch what he had to say below:
