New Dan Ashworth demands go public as Toon continue talks with Man Utd

Some interesting claims have emerged from Mark Douglas at iNews regarding Dan Ashworth’s proposed move to Manchester United.

With talks taking place over the fee needed to release him from gardening leave, he reveals that Newcastle have asked for a transfer ban that blocks Man Utd from signing anyone from our current squad over a set period of time, protecting the club from losing key players Ashworth helped sign during his brief spell on Tyneside.

It’s believed that ‘constructive talks’ have taken place between Darren Eales and Man Utd chiefs over the compensation package, but the two parties still remain some way apart on any agreement that would see Ashworth start work at Old Trafford in time for the summer transfer window.

Man Utd have also rejected claims that a £9m settlement is close to being agreed. It’s said the Red Devils hope to pay a sum closer to the £3m Brighton received prior to his move to St James’ Park in 2022. However, that seems like wishful thinking when a fee in the region of £20m was initially demanded by Newcastle United; who are naturally reluctant to lose a key member of staff to a ‘big six’ rival just in time for the summer transfer window.

  1. It was always inevitable that Ashworth was heading fore Manure when Ratcliffe who is a Chelsea supporter got his foot in the Old Trafford door
The Toon bosses are 100% correct to holding out for a substantial compensation package, if not let him stagnate in the garden

  2. But a Chelsea Season Ticket Holder weird that a life long Man U fan would by a ST for Chelsea

  3. Disgraceful that Man U can poach Dan Ashworth and he s on garden leave
yet the talk being that he is already working for them through the back
door. Man U should be fined and band from signing any players until this
    Is sorted out.
