Sven Botman releases statement after Newcastle confirm devastating injury blow

Sven Botman has releases a statement on his ACL injury that looks set to keep him out for the next six to nine months.

He admits that surgery is now essential after ongoing knee issues, saying he’s been “fighting hard to avoid this step.”

The Dutchman has vowed to come back a better player and plans to put Newcastle United first during his time on the sidelines, promising to support the club – which he describes as a family – “every day.”

In an Instagram post on Thursday morning, Botman said – “It is difficult to accept that surgery is out of the question, after fighting so hard to avoid this step. The support and love I have already received means a lot to me.

”I won’t be able to do what I love the most for a while, but after my knee problems recently, I know I will come out of this period as a better player. My team Newcastle United remain the most important and I will continue to support you every day.

“We are a family. Lots of love, Sven Botman.”

  1. The management of this lads injury has been an absolute disgrace.

It’s been noticeable for months now that he’s been struggling – especially on the turn & for any pace.

The handling of the entire squad’s injuries have been massively questionable this season.

I hope Botmans op is successful & his recovery is quick & hassle free.

But major questions need to be asked about our medical department this summer.
