Newcastle quoted £50m+ for two summer targets – The Telegraph

Over the past week, Newcastle United have been linked with summer moves for Morgan Gibbs-White and Murillo; the Nottingham Forest duo tipped to leave in light of their recent breach of financial rules.

Gibbs-White was targeted in January, but FFP restrictions limited our ability to spend big earlier in the year, while Murillo is thought to be one of several centre-backs being watched by Toon scouts.

According to The Telegraph, Nottingham Forest are determined to adopt a tough stance on player sales this summer, despite a recent four-point deduction and claims they must raise £30m in profit by the end of June to avoid another breach.

Chief Midlands reporter John Percy claims the Reds will demand at least £50m for both Gibbs-White and Murillo, insisting they are ‘under no pressure to accept lowball offers’ for their star players.

They believe Murillo – a 21-year-old Brazilian centre-back – could be worth in excess of £70m in years to come following his impressive first season in the Premier League, while Gibbs-White cost them £30m after installments in the summer of 2022.

So, neither will come cheap, it seems, despite suggestions they’ll be forced to seek quick sales in fear of another PSR breach.
