Italian media claim Newcastle are keen to sign Juventus defender after impressive loan spell

According to reports in Italy, Newcastle United are showing interest in Juventus talent Dean Huijsen ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 18-year-old has spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan with Roma and will return to Juve in the coming months, but he’s gained several admirers following an impressive season at the Stadio Olimpico.

Tutto Juve report that Newcastle and Manchester United are both keen on the teenager, while ASRomaLive.it claim that Eddie Howe’s Mags are ‘still in the picture’ for his signature and keen to recruit at least one centre-back following Sven Botman’s ACL injury.

Huijsen is a 6ft 5′ ball-playing centre-back who has two goals and an assist in 12 Serie A appearances for Roma this season. The Dutch-born defender is eligible to play for Spain and recently received a call-up to their U21 side after previously representing the Netherlands from U17 to U19 level.

The teenager is two-footed and has previously played as a holding midfielder, offering the sort of potential and versatility that could fit into our recent transfer policy.
