Newcastle scouts watching Scottish star impressing in Serie A – Report

According to reports, Bologna’s Lewis Ferguson is the latest midfielder watched by Newcastle United scouts this season.

This comes from Dean Jones at GIVEMESPORT, who reveals that Toon officials have been monitoring the Scotland international’s impressive displays in Serie A.

It’s believed scouts from Newcastle, Aston Villa, Everton, Brentford and Fulham have all been in the stands to watch the 24-year-old in recent months, with the Bologna captain playing a key role in their push towards the Champions League places this season.

The attacking midfielder has six goals and five assists in 30 appearances this season. He scored seven times last term, can play as a number 10 or in a deeper role and has been capped 10 times by Scotland.

This isn’t the only Bologna star Newcastle have checked out this season, with Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee also on Newcastle’s radar after 11 goals and six assists.

Bologna currently sit fourth in Serie A, three points clear of fifth-place Roma and five from Juventus in third.
