Eddie Howe invites two players to train with Newcastle United first team – Report

Newcastle United youngsters Alfie Harrison and Ciaran Thompson have been called up to train with the Newcastle United first team this week.

As revealed by Dominic Scutt at the Shields Gazette, Harrison – the exciting attacker who arrived from Man City in January – and versatile defender Ciaran Thompson both received invites earlier this week when the senior squad arrived back from their training camp in Dubai.

Harrison, 18, has nine goals in nine games at U18 level this season and has played in our last five U21 games in the Premier League 2, helping the young Mags to a 3-2 win over Sunderland last week.

Thompson, 19, signed his first professional contract with Newcastle last summer. The North Shields born defender can operate at centre-back or left-back.

Howe has handed competitive debuts to a host of U21 talents this season, with Lewis Miley, Ben Parkinson, Amadou Diallo and Alex Murphy all featuring for the senior side this term, so it’ll be interesting to see if any of our young stars feature in any of our final 10 games. If our injuries get any worse, they might have to!
