Brilliant news as Alexander Isak issues dream response to Arsenal and PSG links

Alexander Isak has committed his future to Newcastle United, insisting that he “came here for the project” and is not interested in answering questions on a potential move away.

The Swede has the best minutes-per-goal ratio in the Premier League this season –  he has 0.85 goals per 90 minute compared to Haaland’s 0.80 and Salah’s 0.75 – and made it 19 for the season with his brilliant strike last night.

Speaking to the press after last night’s draw with Everton, the 24-year-old had this to say when asked about his future amid links to Arsenal and PSG:

“Yeah, of course I want to be here in the future. I came here for the project, I absolutely love playing here, I really feel at home. I want to finish this season in a good way for me and the team. I love playing here.”

“I don’t want to entertain these type of questions and rumours. It’s not my position. I love playing, we have important games, there’s no focus there (on my future), I just want to do good for the team.

“We want Europe, that’s our target. We want to end up as high as possible, so we have to be positive in that respect. We have to keep winning games and we’ll see which place is available.”

Replacing top strikers is one of the toughest jobs in football and someone of Isak’s quality  and potential is exactly the sort of player we need to be building our team around; not selling.

Brilliant words from the Swede and comments that will lift spirits on Tyneside after dropping two points on Tuesday.
