Updated top six odds and Premier League table after Chelsea vs Man Utd drama

It was a dramatic Thursday night of Premier League football, as European rivals Chelsea beat Man Utd 4-3 thanks to TWO stoppage-time strikes from Cole Palmer.

The result means we are still four points behind a Man Utd side set to face Liverpool on Sunday, but Chelsea’s stunning comeback means they have moved just one away from Eddie Howe’s Mags. They also have a game in hand on us and Sheffield United to play this weekend.

Here’s the bookies’ updated odds for that final place in the top six (presuming both Aston Villa and Spurs remain in top five), followed by the current Premier League table after last night’s results:

  1. Man Utd – 4/6 (1.67)
  2. Chelsea – 11/4 (3.75)
  3. Newcastle – 5/1 (6.00)
  4. Brighton – 16/1 (17.00)
  5. West Ham – 50/1 (51.00)
  6. Bournemouth – 50/1 (51.00)
  7. Wolves – 100/1 (101.00)

So, as things stand, the bookies reckon Chelsea are more likely than Newcastle to catch Man Utd and finish in the top six. That would secure them a place in the Europa League, yet the UEFA coefficient could allow seventh place in the Premier League to qualify for the Europa League (and eighth make the Europa Conference) if England come out on top in the current rankings.
