Newcastle United are back in Premier League action following Tuesday’s frustrating draw with Everton, with us taking on Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Here’s the side I think Eddie Howe will go with for today’s 3pm kick-off:
Predicted line-up: Dubravka; Krafth, Schar, Burn, Hall; Bruno, Longstaff, Anderson; Gordon, Isak, Barnes.
With Trippier and Livramento ruled out, Krafth will surely keep his place at right-back. Hall appears to be OK after fatigue forced him off in midweek, so I’m expecting him to start again.
In midfield, Anderson impressed against Everton and Willock failed to take his chance from the bench. If Anderson is able to start again, I think Howe will give him another start.
With Almiron ruled out, Murphy failing to grasp his chance on Tuesday and Gordon back from a one-game ban, I’m hoping to see the latter start on the right, with Isak up top and Barnes down our left. If so, this would be the first time this season we’ve seen the exciting trio start a Premier League game together.
We saw a glimpse of this front three in that 4-3 win over West Ham and I think it might just be the exciting attack Howe opts for.
All well and good but what is our bench going to look like?
Karius and the two Murphy’s plus Joe White spring to mind. The rest is a lottery.
How about benching the young midfielder, Harrison we signed from Man. City in midfield and the promising central defender Heffernan.
The latter can’t be any worse than that Dummpling who cost us two points last week.
