Bruno Guimaraes’ brilliant response when asked about Newcastle future after Fulham win

Bruno Guimaraes was quizzed on his future, our huge win at Fulham, dodging yellow cards and his landmark appearance for Newcastle United following our 1-0 victory at Craven Cottage.

“I hope to stay much longer”, he told Premier League productions when asked about the Newcastle fans fearing he could leave this summer. “I am happy here. Let’s see what the future brings, but I am happy.I hope to play much more for Newcastle United.”

Promising words from the Brazilian, who is clearly loving life on Tyneside. I may be wrong, but I get the feeling he is more than happy to stay, providing we give him the platform to play European football again next season?

The midfielder, who scored our 81st-minute winner, then discussed the game itself, his 100th appearance for the club, Eddie Howe’s half-time changes and our improved second half display after struggling in the first 45.

“What a day, what a day for me! One hundred games for the club, wow! What a journey I have been living here!

“I am very happy, glad. Everyone deserved to win the game today. The first 20 minutes was not good enough from us. But after that… and in the second half, it was an unbelievable performance from everyone.

“The feeling against Everton, to lose the win in the last minutes, hurt a lot. So to get here today, one hundred games and score, what a day!”

“We did not start well, so slow with and without the ball. We gave them so much time in between the lines and on the ball. We were not Newcastle United! At half-time, the gaffer said a few things to change… and in the second half we were Newcastle United!”

Bruno was then asked about avoiding his 10th booking for the 13th game running, with next weekend’s clash with Spurs the final game before the potential for a two-game ban is wiped.

“It is hard because for me when I play for this club… I give everything! I am aggressive, so it is hard not to get yellow cards. I love to play football with energy and sometimes I am a little bit too strong.

“I spoke to the manager and he told me to play smarter. I have been doing this and there is just one more game to avoid one (a two-game ban for 10 PL bookings).”
