Newcastle ‘leading race’ to sign South American with £12m release clause – Report

Newcastle continue to be linked with a summer move for Boca Juniors star Kevin Zenon.

Back in February, Argentinian journalist Martín Costa revealed that Toon scouts were flying out to South America to watch the 22-year-old in action.

A few months later, another report has emerged on our interest in the versatile winger, with Boca Noticias claiming that we are continuing to track the Argentine.

They claim that a host of European sides are following Zenon, but it’s thought Newcastle are ‘leading the race’ heading into the summer transfer window, with Toon chiefs aware of the release clause – thought to be in the region of £12m – in his current contract.

The Boca Junior talent has five goal involvements in 12 starts this season and has shown his versatility, operating on both flanks and as an attacking midfielder.

Time will tell if this is another link that comes to nothing or the latest South American chief scout Steve Nickson is looking to sign at St James’ Park. Here’s a few clips of him in action:
