Bruno Guimaraes facing bizarre suspension scenario ahead of Newcastle vs Spurs

Bruno Guimaraes celebrated his 100th appearance for the Toon in emphatic fashion, with a thumping goal against Fulham to make it seven points out of a possible nine in the last week of Premier League action.

The Brazilian cupped his ears and kissed the badge in celebration, in a message to those speculating about his future.

One area of speculation all Toon fans have engaged in is whether Bruno would be able to see out a run until match day 32 in the league without another yellow card.

At times, our number 39 has been a bit of a hothead on the pitch and has accumulated nine yellow cards this season. A 10th would see him banned for two games – if it came before the end of the 32nd game of the season; our forthcoming game against Tottenham at St James’ Park this Saturday.

Bruno now finds himself in a precarious position having to see out the next 90 minutes against Spurs without getting a yellow card to avoid a two-match suspension. But, the rules also state that receiving two yellow cards and being sent off is punished by a one game suspension.

So it would be more beneficial for the team as a whole for Bruno to get a second yellow if he is booked against Spurs. He could even get a second booking after full time to avoid missing minutes against Spurs and the prospect of a two-game ban that would see him miss upcoming games against Crystal Palace AND Sheffield United.

What a strange scenario!

  1. It’s not a strange scenario. It’s a fucking stupid one. The Premier league are just incompetent pieces of **** at the best of times.
