Perfect weekend now complete – Incredible 48 hours as more results go Newcastle’s way

This weekend couldn’t have gone much better for Newcastle United, with Eddie Howe’s Mags the only side between sixth and 11th to pick up all three points.

We kicked off with a 4-0 win over Spurs, sending us up to sixth in the Premier League and back in with a huge chance of securing Europa League football for next season. On top of a massive three points, Bruno Guimaraes also escaped his 10th yellow before the cut-off and will not face a two-game ban.

After that, we saw a host of European rivals slip up in the 3pm games. Brighton drew at second-bottom Burnley, Wolves were held to a 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest and Man Utd also failed to win in the 5.30pm kick-off at Bournemouth.

The Red Devils were handed a fortunate penalty and should’ve conceded a 95th minute spot kick, but seeing Ten Hag’s side drop points just a few hours after we leapfrogged them in the league was still a good outcome.

Today we’ve seen West Ham waste a big chance to go back above us. They played Fulham at the London Stadium and lost 2-0, keeping them 8th and two points behind us (we also have a game in hand).

After that, we Crystal Palace pulled off a shock 1-0 win at Liverpool and Aston Villa beat Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates, handing hammer blows to Jurgen Klopp and Mikel Arteta – two managers that have wound us up this season –  in the title race. Next up, let’s hope Everton can do us a favour when they travel to Chelsea tomorrow night.

Last but not least, Newcastle United Women were also crowned FA Women’s National League Champions today, with a 10-0 win at Kingston Park sealing back to back promotions for Becky Langley’s lasses!

  1. We have 6 more matches, max 18 pts, hopefully 16 giving 66 in total.
    Meanwhile
Villa currently 63 with 5 to play probably about 70 pts.
Spurs currently 60 and will be lucky to pick up 6 pts.
Manure probably picking up about 11 points so
I’m hoping for 5th on goal difference and hence CL if the extra spot comes to the EPL
