New top-six odds released – Big swing after Newcastle, Man Utd and West Ham results

The bookies have released new odds in the race for a top-six finish, confirming a massive swing following a near-perfect weekend for Newcastle United.

Going into the weekend, Man Utd were 8/11 favourites to finish 6th, with Eddie’s Mags coming next at 9/4. However, after we hammered Spurs 4-0 to move about the Red Devils – who drew 2-2 at Bournemouth on Saturday night – we are the new bookies’ favourites to seal the final Europa League spot.

Here’s the latest top-six odds via Sky Bet after our win was also followed by a defeat for West Ham and draws for Brighton and Wolves:

  1. Newcastle – 1/1 (2.00)
  2. Man Utd – 5/4 (2.25)
  3. Chelsea – 11/2 (6.50)
  4. Brighton – 50/1 (51.00)
  5. West Ham – 150/1 (151.00)

It’s worth noting that Chelsea play Everton tonight and would draw level with us on 50 points if they won their two games in hand, but we’ve rarely seen Mauricio Pochettino’s Blues deliver consistent wins this season. They also have some tough remaining fixtures, with Arsenal, Aston Villa, Spurs and Brighton still to come.

For context, these were the top-six odds prior to results over the weekend:

  1. Man Utd – 8/11 (1.73)
  2. Newcastle – 9/4 (3.25)
  3. Chelsea – 9/2 (5.50)
  4. West Ham – 28/1 (29.00)
  5. Brighton – 28/1 (29.00)
