Crystal Palace suffer injury blow ahead of Newcastle clash – Another key player ruled out

Crystal Palace have confirmed that tough-tackling midfielder Jefferson Lerma is the latest player added to their injury list ahead of next week’s clash with Newcastle.

Eddie Howe signed the Colombian back in 2018 in a £25m club-record deal for Bournemouth and Eagles boss Oliver Glasner has revealed that he’ll miss their next three games.

Palace play West Ham at Selhurst Park on Sunday before facing Newcastle in the 8pm kick-off next Wednesday, giving them two games in four days while we’re given the weekend off.

Lerma hasn’t missed a minute of Premier League football since the turn of the year and has filled in at centre-back over the past three games to cover for the absent Marc Guehi, Craig Richards and Rob Holding.

However, he suffered a hamstring injury in their 1-0 win at Liverpool last weekend and has been ruled out until their home clash with Man Utd on May 6th.

Elsewhere, Palace are also without midfielder Cheick Doucoure and Sam Johnstone, while Joel Ward and Will Hughes are fresh doubts heading into Sunday’s game with the Hammers.
