Howe reveals moment he ‘shed a tear’ at Newcastle in new interview with former Mag

Eddie Howe has revealed that he shed a tear celebrating his first win as Newcastle United manager during the 2021/22 season.

Speaking to former Toon striker Michael Bridges in an interview from the club’s training base (watch below), the boss admits he got emotional when celebrating in front of the Gallowgate after our 1-0 victory over Burnley in December 2021.

It was his fourth Premier League game in charge after a 3-3 draw with Brentford, 2-0 defeat at Arsenal and 1-1 draw with Norwich. It was a massive three points and a “huge, huge moment” in our push towards safety.

Howe reveals how desperate he was to win the trust of Newcastle fans and prove that he was the man to take us forward after a tough start.

Watch the interview in full below, which touches on his decision to join, our growth over the past few years, lessons learned over the 2023/24 campaign, Isak’s form, our trip to Australia and his message heading into the final six games of the season:

  1. I would be surprised if any of those have not been considered. However, unless we have CL football only Davis would consider moving here and with FFP spending well over £100m on one player, Wirtz is again unrealistic.
So far our buys have proved good, so to call our scouts literally dumb is somewhat disrespectful
